DAVID F. MEEKISON, born in 1947, is a native of Napoleon and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1965. He received his B.A. degree in American Government from the University of Notre Dame in 1969 and received his J.D. degree from the Notre Dame School of Law in 1972. From 1970 to 1972 he served as the Director of Debate at the University of Notre Dame. From 1972 through 1975 he engaged in the general practice of law in Napoleon. From 1976 to 1994 David F. Meekison was a partner in two prominent Canton, Ohio law firms and represented both individual clients and Fortune 500 companies in civil litigation and contract disputes involving both large corporations and small businesses. During this time he tried over eighty jury trials to a conclusion in both state and federal court and more than three hundred arbitrations and trials throughout northern Ohio courts. In 1994 David F. Meekison returned to Napoleon and broadened his practice to not only include general civil litigation but also an emphasis on probate, estate planning, wills, trusts and real estate. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
David F. Meekison has obtained a one million dollar award in the underinsured arbitration of the wrongful death of a housewife. In 1996, he achieved the highest jury verdict in the history of Henry County on behalf of a housewife injured in an auto accident. David F. Meekison is a member of the Henry County, Northwestern Ohio and Ohio State bar associations. He is active in civic organizations such as the Napoleon Rotary Club, and he serves as a chairperson of the Napoleon Civil Service Commission, and is a Trustee of the Henry County Community Foundation.
